Every image, illustration, character design, print, and piece of artwork displayed on this website is an original work created by Olive Isabella Reekie and is protected under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (UK) and applicable international copyright law.

Copyright in all works remains with the artist unless explicitly transferred in writing via a signed licence or assignment agreement. Commissioning a piece of work does not transfer copyright — it grants a licence only, the scope of which is defined in the relevant commissioning agreement.

What you may not do

Without prior written permission, you may not:

• Reproduce, copy, or distribute any image from this website in any format (print, digital, or otherwise)
• Use any artwork commercially — including in advertising, products, merchandise, or publications
• Modify, adapt, crop, recolour, or create derivative works from any image
• Remove or obscure any watermark, signature, or copyright notice
• Upload or post any image to AI training datasets, image generation tools, or machine learning platforms
• Claim any artwork as your own or misrepresent its origin

AI training — explicit prohibition

No artwork on this website may be used to train, fine-tune, or otherwise inform any artificial intelligence, machine learning, or image generation system, including but not limited to Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, DALL-E, Adobe Firefly, or any similar tool. This prohibition applies regardless of whether access to the images is gained directly from this website or via any third-party scraping, indexing, or aggregation service.

Permitted uses

You may share images from this website for editorial and non-commercial purposes (e.g. writing about the work in a review or article) provided that:

• Credit is given as: © [YOUR FULL NAME] / Olive Reekie
• A link to this website is included where possible
• The image is not cropped, altered, or used out of context
• No commercial benefit is derived from the use

Print editions

Limited edition prints are sold with a single-owner licence for personal display only. Resale does not transfer any reproduction rights to the new owner. Prints may not be reproduced, scanned, or used as reference material for derivative works without written permission.

Commissioned works

Clients who commission work receive a licence as defined in their commissioning agreement. The default licence granted is for the specific agreed use only — any additional usage requires a separate written agreement and may incur additional fees. Copyright always remains with the artist unless explicitly assigned in writing.

Infringement

Unauthorised use of any artwork constitutes copyright infringement and will be pursued accordingly. Olive Reekie works with DACS (Design and Artists Copyright Society) and reserves the right to issue takedown notices, pursue damages, and seek legal remedy for any infringement.

If you have used an image without permission and wish to discuss licensing retrospectively, please get in touch — it is always better to resolve these matters directly.

About these terms

These terms and conditions govern your use of this website (olivereekie.com) and any services offered by Olive Isabella Reekie, trading as Olive Reekie, based in Scotland ("the Artist"). By using this website or making an enquiry, you agree to these terms.

Website use

This website is provided for informational and portfolio purposes. You agree to use it only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of any third party. The Artist reserves the right to restrict access to any part of the website at any time.

The Artist makes reasonable efforts to ensure information on this site is accurate and up to date but gives no warranties as to its completeness or accuracy.

Commissioning & enquiries

Making an enquiry via this website does not constitute a contract or commitment on the part of either party. A project is only confirmed when:

• A written commissioning agreement has been signed by both parties
• A deposit invoice has been issued and paid

The Artist reserves the right to decline any commission at their discretion, including projects that conflict with their values or schedule.

Payment

Standard payment terms are 50% deposit on project confirmation, with the balance due on delivery of final files. Specific payment schedules may be set out in individual commissioning agreements. Late payment may incur interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

Kill fees & cancellation

If a project is cancelled by the client after work has commenced:

• Before sketch stage: deposit retained
• After sketches approved: 75% of the total fee is due
• After final artwork delivered: 100% of the total fee is due

All kill fees are in addition to any expenses already incurred.

Revisions

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, commissions include two rounds of revisions — one at sketch stage and one at final artwork stage. Additional revisions will be charged at the Artist's current day rate. Fundamental changes to the brief after sketch approval may be treated as a new commission.

Delivery & files

Final artwork files will be delivered in the format(s) agreed at briefing stage. The Artist retains the right to display commissioned work in their portfolio unless otherwise agreed in writing. Clients wishing to restrict portfolio use must negotiate this in their commissioning agreement, and a higher fee may apply.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Artist's total liability for any claim arising from a commission shall not exceed the total fees paid for that commission. The Artist is not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

Changes to these terms

The Artist reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the website following any changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Who we are

Olive Isabella Reekie, trading as Olive Reekie, is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Contact: hello@olivereekie.com — Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

As a sole trader with no employees, Olive Reekie is not required to register with the ICO unless annual turnover exceeds the small business threshold — however this policy reflects the standards of UK GDPR regardless.

What data we collect

This website currently collects the following personal data:

• Contact enquiries: if you email via the contact link, your email address and any information you include in your message

How we use your data

Data you send via email is used solely to:

• Respond to your enquiry
• Administer any resulting commission or sale
• Comply with legal obligations (e.g. invoicing, tax records)

We do not use your data for marketing without your explicit consent, and we do not sell or share your data with third parties except where required by law or necessary to fulfil a contract (e.g. a shipping provider for print orders).

Legal basis for processing

We process personal data on the following grounds under UK GDPR:

• Legitimate interests — responding to enquiries and managing client relationships
• Contractual necessity — processing data required to fulfil a commission or print order
• Legal obligation — retaining financial records as required by HMRC
• Consent — where you have explicitly opted in to any communications

Data retention

Enquiry emails that do not lead to a commission are deleted after 12 months. Client records (invoices, contracts, correspondence) are retained for 7 years in line with HMRC requirements. You may request earlier deletion of personal data where this does not conflict with legal obligations.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of personal data held about you
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your data where there is no legitimate reason to retain it
• Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
• Portability — receive your data in a portable format
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests

Third-party services
